Look very good, but I suspect the price will be too high.
It remembers me Novag Citrine, which has square lights also and pc connection.

It has wooden pieces, so you cannot eat them when captured. It also lacks a 3D printer for creating new pieces after you've eaten them.

Yes better keep it virtual so your avatar can be a worm having a nice meal.IGarcia wrote:unless you are a worm, a cockroach or maybe a rat...Henk wrote:It has wooden pieces, so you cannot eat them when captured. It also lacks a 3D printer for creating new pieces after you've eaten them.

Indeed, Ruud Martin produces the Rolls Royce of dedicated chess computers. The main difference with the previous Revelation board is the use of DGT's piece recognition technology and their wooden board production instead of just magnetic reed switches and custom made wood boards. A labour of love from a dedicated computer enthusiast.Steve Maughan wrote:Just spotted this:

And like a Rolls, you pay for that luxury. I think it is going for about €2850, or €3000 if you want the classic engine emulation (all of Richard Lang's engines, all of Schröder's and Kittinger's 6502 engines). You get Hiarcs, Shredder, Fruit, Toga, and Ruffian; running on an 800 MHz XScale.

I am surprised that the hardware and software is very limited. Why not have this on a snapdragon quad core or higher end smartphone CPU's? Also should be easy to port to Stockfish. Add to that a bluetooth or wifi enabled communication port (or both) and things get really interesting.

Very nice, but the price is far too high for my budget. And I don't see how the cost could be significantly lowered, even if many thousands of units could be sold.
Also, is it possible and not too difficult to put one's own program into the machine? That's what I'd like to do.

You could always build a board yourself like I did.
