Maverick 0.2 - New Versions...

Post by Steve Maughan »

Hi All,

Here's a new version of Maverick. I think it's at least 100 ELO better than version 0.11 - what do you think?

Could you please make a 64-bit version that will run on non-popcount machines?

Graham.

Thanks Steve.

I'm hoping to run a gauntlet later this week for CCRL 40/40, but I'm a bit wary at present as new versions are coming out quite frequently.

Cheers,
Graham.

Hi Graham,

The releases will slow waaaaaay down.

Version 0.05 was the first release which actually played chess. Version 0.11 was just adding null-move and hash tables. Then 0.2 was really just a bug fix of 0.11 which had a dramatic impact on the playing strength.

My policy will be to release when I have a gain of 100 ELO. This will take time from version 0.2. If I had to guess, version 0.3 will not be flowing though silicon until some time in October.

So, feel free to test! It would be appreciated as I'm really unsure of Maverick's absolute rating.

Best,

Steve
