2013 7th Annual World Computer Rapid Chess Championships

Post by CRoberson »

It is time to decide the dates for the Annual World Computer Rapid Chess Championships. In the past, June and July have been the best months. Late June sounds good to me, but I am open. It will be online and currently planned to be on ICC. As in the past, I expect ICC will produce free temporary accounts for each competitor. This event is open to all world-wide that did their own work. As before, it will be between 8 and 14 rounds depending on participation levels and the TC will be the usual G/25 +4 (Rapid Chess).

Please send me your 3 preferred June/July 2013 weekends in order of preference and any weekends that you can not participate. I will tally the votes and optimize for greatest participation.

Looks like June 1 & 2 is out since that is the ICT event.

It looks like either the weekends of 7/13 will be the best. Second best looks like the weekend of 7/20.

Ok, the date is decided. It will be the weekend of 7/20 & 7/21. I'll get the web pages and registration going soon. It is open to all that do reasonably original work world-wide.

As for the big questions:
Can Houdini or Rybka enter? Yes. They will be required to show me proof of originality, but they can enter and participate if they pass.

Can Robolitto and its family enter? No. the original author must enter the program even if a tester is running it. Given that Ippo doesn't have authors, it and they can't enter.

ICC has informed me that they will give you a free 3 month account to prepare for the tournament. Those without accounts should sign up for the tournament soon. Testing on ICC almost always finds bugs that aren't found by the rating groups.
