Karpov by Excalibur Precious Machine

This is by sure one of the best dedicated units I have had and certainly the best produced by Excalibur. It has a kittinger program worthy 2293 elo USCF, many functions, very strong but not so much as to make impossible even to get half a point. Well done, wooden pieces, etc. Kittinger programs are always guarantee of very entertaining games. If you can get one in eBay or elsewhere, do it.

What is more. it gives a very entertaining game. Very resourceful. Many times you get the upper hand, but it gets a way to annoy you with counter game tactics. You are always on your toes.

I hear Phoenix Chess Systems is about to come out with a reasonably priced unit...

It is sad that there are effectively only three chess authors available if you want to buy a new chess computer: Morsch for Mephisto, Kittinger for Novag, and Nelson for Excalibur. It boggles my mind that you can't get a Lang program in a new dedicated any more! His programs had the best style for teaching youngsters good positional principles.

It is sad that there are effectively only three chess authors available if you want to buy a new chess computer: Morsch for Mephisto, Kittinger for Novag, and Nelson for Excalibur. It boggles my mind that you can't get a Lang program in a new dedicated any more! His programs had the best style for teaching youngsters good positional principles.

Scoff at the price of the Res II board if you must .. however.. here is an old used chess computer(released 20 years ago in 1992) that sold on Ebay just two days ago for $2700

Are they? I think this is a myth. IMHO new Kittinger Programs don't play more entertaining as others.

There are only a handful old Kittinger programs with an unique style, beginning wth the Constellation and ending with the Super Expert C (and only the "C" version). The positional playing style was a result of his psh (pre search heuristics) algorithm, the idea of giveing his machines some kind of strategy.

I still regret that I wasted my money with a Citrine, and once I had a Diamond. Though Kittinger programs, they have by far the most awful playing styles of my dedicated units. We can disagree about the Excalibur 2294 (which is in fact a renamed Novag Emerald) but at least the Citrine and Diamond prove you wrong

Maybe so as you say, I have not those machines you mention. I have Super connie, this Karpov-Emerald thing, a hand held unit almost unusable due to his poor screen and of course some software. Citrine, I guess, is only partially a Kittinger program. I am almost sure the engineers of Novag messed around a bit...
