Scorpio Chess 2.7 by Jim Ablett is out

Post by Norbert Raimund Leisner »

Hello together,

http://jimablett.net63.net contains Scorpio 2.7 now.

Can anyone test the Windows 64-bit GCC edition if it requires special dependencies (e.g. extra .dll-files like libwinphread-1.dll for 32-bit) to run?

Would it be possible to create a precompiled version for Mac OS X , too?
This download-link could be added to CC-Wiki "Macintosh Engine List", of course.

Best wishes,
Norbert

Sure! :) here it is:
http://julien.marcel.free.fr/macchess/s ... -ja-jm.zip

It is the exact same archive as Jim's, but with a MacOSX drawer with a MacOSX Snow Leopard / Lion compile.

Hi Julien,

just wondering... Shouldn't anything that runs on Snow Leopard run on Lion as well? I mean these are just console apps linked to CRT. Am I missing something?

No, you are perfectly right Martin :) I just wrote that because someone once commented one of my ports by saying something like "it's not worth posting if it's not checked as working on Snow Leopard too"... So I save time by writing this ;)

Julien,

which free eng-eng chess GUI do you recommend for MacOSX (Lion) ?

Cheers,
Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Sadly, my favorite one, Sigma Chess, doesn't run anymore on Lion, as it's a PPC program.

Alternative choices are:

- ExaChess
- Jose
- Stockfish's interface

And Shredder's interface is probably your best choice, but it's not free.
