Hurricane Irene

Post by Norm Pollock »

It is my understanding that the server for TalkChess.com is located where the store www.chessusa.com is located, which is in North Massapequa, Long Island, NY.

This area is going to be hit hard by Hurricane Irene this evening and through the morning ET. A power outage is very possible.

Be safe Steve.

Looks like it won't be to bad now. Just a lot of rain.

Best to you,
Gerold.

Thanks Guys

Trees down all over the place
one is blocking my driveway and leaning against a power line
im basically trapped and cant get my cars out

im surprised the Talk Chess servers are still working
i know the power is out in the town where the servers are located

battery power on notebook down to 57%

i have moved all of my chess computers to higher ground
rest of my possessions can fend for themselves

Prioritizing Regards

I heard trees can fall even after the hurricane, due to the already soaked ground with more rain on top of that...

Stay safe.

Thanks Guys for your well wishes

mean Irene has passed
tree blocking my escape now cleared away but there is no where to go as all stores and traffic lights are out
amazed CCC servers are still up..i think i should move to that town
while most folks were killing each other for D cell batteries for their flash lights..my pre-hurricane preparations included cornering the market on C cell batteries as they can be used in the Mephisto Exclusive board which i am playing with now by candlelight

Battery Power Remaining on Notebook
17% Regards
Steve
