Donations to TCEC

Post by kgburcham »

Hello Martin Thoresen.
Congratulations on having the highest level chess program testing site in the world for 2011.
Thank you for all of your honest hard work, I know the time and money add up.

I play over games from different testers to rate the testers. I have done this for years. Some have used cheap commercial books with terrible results.
The results of some of these testers are laughable sometimes. Of course I cannot expect everyone to be able to afford decent hardware but my expectations are that some of our testers should take up ping pong instead of using 10 year old cpus and small outdated ram.
It is really nice to see you using such good hardware and such detail in managing these games, of course that is why so many high level chess fans are watching your site.
Most chess fans cannot appreciate what it means to have the endgame tablebases on an SSD. I can, I am getting and maintaining 365 on my Crucial c300 in the 6gb/s port on my SR-2. Trim is amazing.

Martin I cannot find where to send a donation to your site. Have you set this up yet?

thanks

kgburcham,

Thank you for your kind words! I try the best I can and I think I have
succeeded in creating a relatively fair system for computer chess.

As Matthias said, donations are welcome so you can find
the donation link in the bottom of the information page.

Thanks again!

Best,
Martin

You're not very familiar with J.R.R. Tolkien's books are you? :)

mordor is just an alias for my real email address, one that I have used
since 1997. I've added the real address to the donate button on the
information page now. :)

Best,
Martin

Dear martin:
To date I did not know your site. Now I do. It is incredibe well done! Richly designed, full of data, etc. About the quality of the tests you perform i just and only can put my confidence in what is said here because I do not put much care in this field of computer chess, the testing issue, but I just play engines and almost any of the top 50 and perhaps top 200 is more than a match for me. If only I was not ruined I would glady contribute to the financing of your endeavour. Only thing I can offer to you, perhaps of not much value, is a hug.
