Critte 0.90 released

Post by rvida »

Hi,

Critter 0.90 is available. Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/syg0g65cj ... r_0.90.zip

- support for hash sizes up to 8 GB
- new executable utilizing SSE4 POPCNT instruction
- fixed behavior under Aquarium GUI, it can now play normal chess (previous version was always stuck in chess960 mode)
- decreased some bonuses related to pawn structure
- revised "bad trade" evaluation - now it is more willing to go into exchange sacrifices
- LMR in pv nodes

enjoy

Richard

- revised "bad trade" evaluation - now it is more willing to go into exchange sacrifices
- LMR in pv nodes

That sounds like 50-60 elo difference - is that correct?

Does the elo diff change as thinking time increases, i.e., does the gap in strength between C0.80 and C0.90 increase with thinking time, decrease, or stay roughly the same as the gap tested at presumably fast times {1+1 games perhaps?} used when testing the effect of changes made?

Thanks Richard, and thanks for increasing the hash size yet again! ;)

PS: Your engine is going to be directly placed in TCEC Division 1 (more details about the new TCEC system later).
