Scid 3.7 released

Post by pgeorges »

Hi,

I released Scid 3.7 at http://scid.sourceforge.net/

There have been many changes (see Changelog file in source package), the most visible one being a new user interface (see http://scid.sourceforge.net/screenshots/docked.png).

Thank you Pascal, a great new release!

I like especially the docking feature and the possibility to save layouts!

But i have some questions/suggestions:

How can i "redock" undocked windows? Up to now i do it by closing and re-opening.

Regarding the "save layout" feature: it seems that " undocked" windows are not saved. Could you implement this?

And a suggestion: I often import pgn from other sources via clipboard. But in Scid this procedure is more complicated, than it has to be (in my opinion): "edit" -> "paste clipboard text as pgn game" ->"import" ->"close"
Would it be possible, to make the import procedure somewhat more accessible?
In my eyes, the best solution has the Shredder GUI: with Ctrl-V you can paste pgn as well as fen-strings ("paste start board")

thank you for your great work!

I have some code ready for this, but this has more drawbacks than benefit (where do you put the window back in the layout ?).

Not planned.

I don't know why it has been designed with those steps. I will see if something quicker can easily be implemented.

great release but it is quite annoying to resize the windows every time you open Scid. Any plans to fix this?

Geno

If you save the layout (I suppose in docked windows mode), the layout #1 is automatically restored (menu options -> windows -> save layout).

I see the Windows no setup zip file for 3.7 has been taken off the download page. Will that be back?

No (this bored me). If you want to run Scid from an USB key it is sufficient to copy the installation directory to it.
