Arasan 10.2 is available from http://www.arasanchess.org.
This is not quite the same version that played in CCT10, but close (some additional search enhancements and bug fixes have been made).
Changes in Arasan 10.2:
1) Fix possible crash bug: check for previous illegal move before hash
cutoff.
2) Forced move extension in q-search removed - caused some searches to
blow up (excessive nodes searched).
3) Limited razoring removed - in its place, wider use of LMR. Consolidate
reduction + pruning code. Disable recapture extension by default.
4) Some pawn scoring changes. Fixed asymmetric king center score in endgame.
5) Bug fixes in bad trade scoring.
6) Greater use of R=3 in null move.
7) Linux bug fix: free semaphores on exit.

Jon, please explain something to me. I am running chessbase, hence i will use the UCI version. I can either download and run the installer or i can download just the book and the engine. I opted for "just the book and the engine". My question is if i was to download and run the installer, what am i missing out on that i need by doing it the other way and just getting the exe and the book? Is the strength going to be any difference one way or the other?
Thanks,
George
Re: Arasan 10.2
No strength difference George. Installer version comes with Arasan GUI.

Re: Arasan 10.2
Thanks a lot John,
I will start some test games with SMP version today.
I used the uci - version and set using 2 CPUs in the uci options.
As this did not work - I edited the rc file. This is not usual, so I will ask you to put it on your todo list...

Re: Arasan 10.2
Thanks for the observation - Arasan should probably either not support the Threads option or make it work properly - it is a bit hard to dynamically change the thread count in the current implementation.
