No, there's no point deduction nor bonus for someone else, you can pick same engines that one of the contestants picked.

Yep, I got it 4 years back from the author, I talked to the author in playchess, he says he is still working on it and he will remind me of any newer versions.The author is a strong chess player himself i guess.
