M4, M4 PRO, M4 MAX, M4 ULTRA, End of 2024
M4 MAX with +2 or +4 CPU cores
+2 performance cores
or +2 performance cores and +2 efficiency cores
Note that with more and more cores, the number increases exponentially and not linearly.

No M3 ULTRA. (M3 ULTRA => M4 ULTRA)

M4 ULTRA and later comes without ULTRA Fusion.
No MAX + MAX chip connection.
Reason: Ultra Fusion doesn't double the performance. (100% -> 200% is what Apple always wants) (100% -> 175% is what they get).
Only in some cases like chess they get 100% -> 200%.
Ultra = completely new chip. More cores, more performance, better cooling. 100% -> 200%.

M5, M5 PRO, M5 MAX, M5 ULTRA, End of 2026

+2 is linear x2 is exponential, just saying ;)

What about "AI PC", any news on new NPU chips for running neural networks?

I meant:
M1 MAX 10 cores
+2 cores
=M2 MAX 12 cores
+4 cores (not +2)
=M3 MAX 16 cores

M4 main focus: AI / Neural Engine.
M4 MAX Neural Engine with 32 cores.

Ah, x~1.25 across all core count, I considered just the performance cores:

M1 Max 8+2 (P+E) 10
M2 Max 8+4 (P+E) 12
M3 Max 12+4 (P+E) 16

projection:

M4 Max 14+4/6 (P+E) 18/20
M5 Max 20+4 (P+E) 24

Or is it linear growth, +2|4? ;)

It seems unlikely that the upcoming Apple products will match the performance or price point of future Intel's 16th generation, AMD's Zen 7, or the Snapdragon processors expected in 2025. Based on current trends, it's reasonable to predict that this product might be heavily marketed and priced at a premium. Consumers focused primarily on functionality might find it less appealing compared to those who value brand and style.

This is off-topic, but it's very noticeable that, on a night out, if you meet a girl (young girls in particular) who have an Apple phone, they'll go to a lot of trouble to "accidentally" ensure that you see that their phone is an Apple phone. You won't be allowed to miss the logo.

Obviously there's no actual benefit to them of doing this, but what do they, even unconsciously, think the benefit is? All I can think of is that girls like to show off.

Btw global culture is with us in the female sex: in certain situations, girls will say exactly the same things using exactly the same words whether they're Asian, African, European or American. My best guess is that it's coming from Netflix (to which I am not a subscriber).
