Jim.
Still no joy on the Intel i5.
However, if others are able to run it without any issues, it might just be that I have to miss out this time.

Thanks for all you do anyway Jim. It is appreciated. :)

Hi Jonatan,

No problems here, using the jar under Arena - it's busy giving Jabba a hard time :)

Que??

I own the CB Gui also (Fritz 13), but I feel the exact opposite of you - I paid €50 and find a free GUI like Arena has no problem running .bat files, the commercial Chessbase GUI can't.

The *.jar file (not *.bat) runs fine under ChessGUI.

Thanks. I'll just use the jar version as Jonatan suggested for now. :)

Good to hear. :)

It's unfortunate that there always seems to be various Java-related issues for people on new releases. And and you say it's mindboggling that the commercial GUIs have problems with java (bat-files)..

On my system with win7 x64 home, Jim's Jet compile runs fine, the launch4j doesn't work though. Is the launch4j version much stronger or does both Mediocres have the same strength?

Mediocre will participate in the Swedish country competition which starts tomorrow.

Here is a launch4j logfile. I am not that technical so I don't know if this could be of any help.

Hi Geert,

Excelsior Jet exe should run a bit faster on a 32 bit system.
Launch4J exe is just an executable wrapper for Java so it needs Java installed on the system.
If it is a 64 bit system, install the 64 bit Java runtime environment.
Running Launch4j (or original Jar file) with 64 bit Java will be the fastest I suspect.

Jim.

Hi Jim,

I have jr7 on my system installed so it should work. Does the logfile contain no interesting info? Anyway, I have a working Mediocre (under a Chessbase-gui!) so I am not complaining at all :-).

Best regards,
Geert
