Ok I vote R4 vs Deep fritz. R4 because it has proven his strenght in long time control and plays brilliant games and Deep fritz because it's a long known commercial engine that I don't have but always wanted to see play :). I think Houdini will have to wait some months maybe version 1.04 .

What do people think of a 6-engine double round robin tournament? (30 games) as an alternative to the next match? Match 4 could in that case be run after this tournament.

I would, in that case, select the 6 engines with the most votes. Currently, that is:

Critter 0.80
Rybka 4
Stockfish 1.8
Houdini 1.03a
Shredder 12
Naum 4.2 & Spark 0.5 (I'll decide between them myself if the vote is equal at the end of the poll).

It will be 10 rounds (so 5 openings with each engine playing black and white of each opening).

Sounds like a good idea. Of course 100 games would be better :)

Best,
Gerold.

Yes, but that would take 1 month. Too long! :)

Perhaps you don't like the results of Houdini vs Rybka. But i, do. (but if Houdini does not end in at very least, a 5-point lead, then i don't care at all for it).
If the results of the poll indicated Rybka vs Critter, then i would say, "YES PLEASE, make the round robin instead"!

Houdini could win by 5 games. Anyway Critter is not very close
to the big 3. Its about 100 elo lower.

My vote is for Critter (being its author) and for Naum (opponent I would most like).

I spent quite a lot of money purchasing chess stuff, but I still did not bought Naum 4.

Your vote is very understandable, being its author.

Martin, the Round Robin seems to me the most interesting option at this moment. Great idea!

Regards.
