If used, show caution.

As an overall browser, Opera used to be pretty good. And then?

Back in 2016, the web browser was sold to a Chinese corporation for $600 million, and since then the browser’s not what it used to be. The free VPN doesn’t offer full-system encryption anymore, and your data will be collected when you use it. The privacy policy also took a turn for the worse.

Quentin wants to know whether there were any recent cases of the 403 error, for users anywhere in the World. I had none myself.

Besides all the other errors I still get plenty 403 errors, even this morning. Most of the time when I try to post a message I'm suddenly logged off, an other annoyance is that often the forum is not rendered properly. All together this makes the forum rather useless.

It seems the browser has something to do with this as well, it happens frequently that I can't use the forum with Firefox, when I switch to Chrome or Edge it suddenly works, but not always, maybe cookies have something to do with this.

So nothing has changed or has been repaired, it's a mess.

Hi,
from France, I currently can't access without enabling a VPN - neither using my mobile phone (Samsung internet browser or Firefox), Orange as carrier; nor from home ISP (Free) + Firefox on laptop. Always ends in 403 Forbidden error. I activated a VPN (German location) to write this post. I saw the request for reporting from Eelco's heads up in Prodeo forum. I scarcelly go to the TalkChess forum now, as accessing requires this VPN I don't enable usually.
Best regards

From the UK it is intermittent, but mostly isn't accessible. I connect via a USA VPN.

Hi all,

I’m having difficulties from the UK too. I’m lucky to get on less than 50% of the times I try, without the dreaded “403 Forbidden error”
