I added nosse 32-bit version, so could you please try using that one.
I think the problem is not SSE but that it imports InitOnceExecuteOnce from kernel32, which is only supported by Vista and later.

I am not calling that explicitly, but I guess MS compiler is putting it in.
Just confirmed that executables aren't working on Win XP. When I compile with the older version of MS Visual C++ everything works fine.
Will have to recompile and re-release everything :(

Thanks,
Dragan

Hi Gabor.
Please download again. I recompiled all versions with the older version of compiler. These executables should work on WinXP and up.
They are actually slightly faster (around 2%) then the old downloads.

Hi Dragan,

Thank you very much for your efforts. Unfortunately I am not going to have access to an XP machine until Monday, but I am sure someone can confirm your findings sooner than that.

Nebula testing (64-bit) is going to start in a couple of hours. :D

Gabor, I have been running 4'+2" blitz, and I believe he is pretty much correct that his engine is right there with Hermann 2.8 x64.

If the Popcount 64bit from the 1st download works fine for me- will it play at the same strength with the new download? What should I do?

Thanks,

george

PS: The charter says anyone announcing a new engine on TalkChess has to provide us with a logo!

On my system the new 32-bit compile is working just fine.

Best,

Hello Dragan

Thanks for Nebula, certainly a new participant in the countryChess tournament :-). Which country should it play in?

Good luck with the project and best regards,

Geert

The speed difference is really minor and probably depends on the machine. On my Intel i7 machine, latest 32-bit and 64-bit versions are slightly faster, but the 64-bit PopCnt version is slightly slower.
ELO difference is not measurable considering the error margin and the number of games you are running.
