There was a current version out for over a year- Vitruvius 0.83b. But it looks like he removed that download. You haven't missed a thing- but I will be more than happy to send it to you.

I really enjoyed beta testing Vitruvius. I think that this engine plays a different type of chess and the games are always exciting. I believe Roberto has accomplished what he set out to do, as Vitruvius provides a human like attacking style. Good luck Roberto!
Here is one of my beta test games of Vitruvius . Elo is not everything, style counts for alot IMHO. This game is pure genius!

I think that Vitruvius seems to understand the power of passed pawns (connected passers) better than other engines. Very instructive play!

Where is the beta version?
There was a current version out for over a year- Vitruvius 0.83b. But it looks like he removed that download. You haven't missed a thing- but I will be more than happy to send it to you.
george
Thanks
You will have to mail me here at geotsp8@yahoo.com and give me an address to send it to. Understand it is not even on the same planet with DeepSaros. But you can run it yourself and decide.

IvanHoe ruled. Vitruvius sacrifices material without compensation in most cases. I know Vitruvius its not a blitz or bullet specialist but this result is no exciting.

Just spell this out for me: What's so special about Deep Saros? Is it a particularly strong derivative?

Well, depends on your point of view. As for origin, no doubt it originated from the study of Ivanhoe. How much was taken from Ivanhoe depends on who you talk to.
As for strength, I ran it on 1CPU, 32bit- against Fritz 13, Komodo 3, Komodo 4, Rybka 4.1, Stockfish 2.1.1 and Stockfish 2.2.2 - All games were 40/3 repeating and 50-game matches. Deep Saros demolished each of the above. It was drawn by the new RobboLito 0.10, and Critter 1.4 beat it. It is really a strong engine. As I said, even Carotino is subject to changing his story a bit from time to time.
But look, I can't deal with all of it. I was told Vas said the Ippos came from Rybka. Fabien says Rybka came from Fruit. Houdini is supposed to have come from RobboLito and Ivanhoe. Houdart, I think, says Strelka 5 came from Houdini. I am hearing talk out loud about Loop and quietly about Naum. You see, I am already getting a migraine.
So I made myself a deal. When they programmed them- I would run them. The hell with origins. I can't prove anything either way about anything. Only reason I ever brought Deep Saros into the conversation is because it comes from the same authors that Vitruvius does.
Check over in Tourn. and matches. I just posted a 50 game match between DeepSaros and Naum 4.2. If you discount the draws, Naum won the first 3 games and then DeepSaros closed out the match 21 - 2. And that is quite impressive. Tho I knew Naum could not win- I had no idea it would be that bad. And it wouldn't get much better if done again.
You want DeepSaros 2.3j--------- http://deepsaros.jimdo.com/
Give it a try.
