if you look at ChestUCI's output you see that Michael has set fixed K2 manually before starting the search. ;)

That was tried for several years, but found wanting. Indeed, AI was seen by many as the superstar of the future for chess programs.

The programs were successful only on some types of positions, but really stupid about others. Despite repeated efforts by talented researchers and programmers, it failed time after time, in OTB play.

We aren't using alpha-beta and exhaustive searches because we like it. We're using them because everything else, has fallen far short of it.
