Dann if you are out there, I have one that does not appear to be in your list.

Rybka 1.01Beta 9b w32

I think it was available for about 10 minutes during the Rybka Beta frenzy and then withdrawn..

If you want I can send it to you to put up there with the others?

Sure, why not?
I imagine that there are collectors who will want it.

69.......which is alot.

When it comes to the most versions ever to be made public of any engine, the order must be Crafty then Rybka. I guess there are more Rybka's than Fritz's or Comet's.

(An afterthought is Tytan which also has quite a few)

Don't forget Arasan. I don't know the total there, but it must be very high.

GnuChess should get honorable mention, but GnuChess is really two completely distinct engines (the last one having been ruined by the Herd).

If we count also unreleased engines, I guess the prize might go to Movei or Fruit. I guess I have one hundred each of those {didn't bother to count them}.

Thanks Chris. I was a Rybka 1.x customer, and I never heard of this particular version.

Thinker is also quite many.....that's a good shout.

I know that I have some Thinker's that no one else has from CCT for example.

The most publicly released engine is very different to the most released in either the private or public.

If we were to say the most productive engine either released or unreleased, the proviso being that it was given to someone else to test, has to be a matter of some debate.

How many Zappa's have there been for example? Maybe Anthony or Volker can tell us?

There must be a few old test versions of Shredder out there.

Not so sure about Junior......as they do what they do....internal. Some would even say it's nocturnal......

Chess Tiger? I've seen nothing freeware/abandonware there, but one thing I know......

It cannot be bad for business.

I'm all for a freeware frenzy.
