The second FEN string (Sam Loyd) is incorrect. It should be...
n1rb4/1p3p1p/1p6/1R5K/8/p3p1PN/1PP1R3/N6k w 0 1
(N.B. a BLACK knight on a8, not a white knight as given.)
The position as it stands is a mate in 6 by the same b4.
