Awesome! Time to get some *popcorn* ;)

Based on it's CCRL rating MinimalChess is a bit of an underdog it seems. I guess it's too late now to replace 0.4.9 with a more up to date version of MinimalChess? I have a never to be released dev-version with a fancy 4-bucket TT (not really minimal, but I was curious) that would be perfectly suited for long timecontrols I think!

But letting the version play that earned the promotion makes sense of course. Maybe in Season 3! ;)

P.S: you forgot to update the info.txt I think.

Sorry, for that... I probably should have conteacted you and the author of Nalwald before I start to see if there is any new binary to use.
As for the info.txt, I thought I have updated it, can you please point me to the place that I have forgotten to update?

P.S. MinimalChess is doing awesome so far, of course it is too early to draw any conclusions, but it is nice to have a headstart

When I click the "Tournament Info" button it's still about the Qualification league and the engines that participated there. But now I noticed there's a scrollbar and you added the infos about the super league below! I just missed that.

Hmm... last place is not exactly my definition of "awesome" but it already won 2 games. So at least it's putting up some resistance! ;)

Queen sacrifice anyone?

Post by amanjpro » Tue Jul 20, 2021 3:46 pm

Zahak sacrifices the queen, to win in 30 moves or so...

Please note that Lozza 3, is a dev versino of Lozza 2, and its eval is completely re-written from scratch, and it is estimated to be weaker than Lozza 2

For Minic (and SF also), Qa5 seems a little better in the position
[d] rqb1k2r/p3n1pp/Q1pn1p2/1p2p3/4P3/NBP1BN2/P4PPP/3R1RK1 w kq - 3 20

But indeed Nxb5 is also possible and much more fun !

Zahak is only ~2700, I was surprised that it could find the line, I mean Q for N is a bit too much for an engine at this level, especially there is not an immediate compensation

BTW, I fail to see the continuation after Qa5, I mean what happens if black plays Nb7:

[d] rqb1k2r/pn2n1pp/2p2p2/Qp2p3/4P3/NBP1BN2/P4PPP/3R1RK1 w kq - 5 21

Each engine has played 40 games so far, Nalwald is first, Zahak is half point behind it.
Loki, CT800 are playing as per expectation. And Barbarossa is disappointing us again
But the nicest surprise is MinimalChess, much improvement since season 1.

ZaTour: Season 2 - MinimalChess plays a perfect game to beat Nalwald

Post by amanjpro » Fri Jul 23, 2021 8:19 pm

MinimalChess, against all odds plays a perfect game against Nalwald (which is rated 400 points higher) and wins an amazing game.
