Who will win the Hammer of Thor Open? 7 Round Swiss

Post by Martin Thoresen »

I will start this tournament later this evening. 24 engines will participate,
all engines are rated in the Hammer of Thor rating list (this list will be
posted later today, with complete elo-numbers!).

So there are no elo-numbers in this poll, but that should make it more interesting voting-wise, shouldn't it? :)

The time controls are as usual 40 moves in 120 minutes, then 20 moves
in 60 minutes, then 30 minutes for the rest of the game.

All engines use common HS8-moves.ctg book and 3-4-5 piece Nalimov or Bitbases.

It seems that there is a limit to the number of poll-entries, so just vote
"Other" and post a post if you think one of these engines will win:

Petir 4.39
Delfi 5.1
Tinker 6.18
WildCat 7.0
CM10th Warrior
Deep Frenzee 3.0 64-bit 2CPU
Crafty 21.5
Pro Deo 1.4 Aggressive
Fritz 10
SlowChess WV2.1 Aggressive
Spike 1.2
Bright 0.1d
Alaric 704
Glaurung 1.2.1 Avalanche 64-bit 2CPU
Chiron 0.8.3 b2
Hiarcs X54 64-bit

I voted for Zapchess. Even before the tournament finishes, I will guess the last spot, no offense to you Bryan, but Tinker stick out like a sore thumb.

It might be unfair with Tinker in this field, but I'll add more engines in the next Hammer of Thor that is closer to Tinker in strength.

Anyway, I can't wait to get the show on the road!

Obviously Fritz 10 can't play in this field because of incompatibility within the GUI.

So CM10th Eagle II will replace it.

That which does not kill Tinker only makes it stronger!

Actually, I had no idea which other engines would be in this round.

Don't worry Brian, I'll make sure Tinker gets some more suitable opponents in Hammer of Thor VI. :)

From what I have seen Tinker is a solid engine. No crashes, no illegal moves etc from Tinker at WBEC. I wish you would send me a copy of Tinker as well.

I am really enjoying Tinker. It's a solid engine, no doubt about it.
