i was not able to make sth work (besides 1.Qf7 !!?)...i seriously tried with Qh7 but i couldnt make it work (black must react accordingly, eg 1...Bhg7 might work, but its a walk on the edge acc to my "find outs")...atm i would agree that 1. Qf7 is the only winning move (considering the "50-move-rule")...just to add, Peter, ...its not Paloma's position...its the one that Hobacle himself provided :-)

And as for 1.Qh7, it's drawn, if I trust in refilled hash with new Backward of line after 1.Qf7:
(
3k4/Q7/1b3b1b/6b1/8/ppp5/brrp4/nqbN3K w - - 0 1

Analysis by MateFinder 050320 64:

1.Qf7 Bhg7 2.Kg2 Bfd4 3.Qe6 Be7 4.Kf3 Ke8 5.Ke4 Bgf6 6.Qg8+ Kd7 7.Kd5 Bg7 8.Qe6+ Ke8 9.Qg6+ Kf8 10.Ke6 Kg8 11.Qf7+ Kh8 12.Qxe7 Bbc5 13.Qh4+ Kg8 14.Kf5 Kf7 15.Qg5 Bb4 16.Qg2 Bgf6 17.Qg6+ Ke7 18.Qg8 Bde5 19.Qe6+ Kd8 20.Qf7 Bbe7 21.Qd5+ Ke8 22.Ke6 Kf8 23.Qg2 Bg5 24.Kxe5 Kf7 25.Kf5 Bef6 26.Qc6 Ke7 27.Qc7+ Kf8 28.Qd7 Bd8 29.Qe6 Kg7 30.Qg6+ Kh8 31.Ke6 Bf4 32.Kf7 Bb6 33.Qg7#
+- (#33) Depth: 71/66 00:03:29 16744MN
)
With still full hash after 1.Qh7 instead:

3k4/7Q/1b3b1b/6b1/8/ppp5/brrp4/nqbN3K b - - 0 1

Analysis by MateFinder 050320 64:

1...Ke8 2.Qe4+ Kf8 3.Qb4+ Kf7 4.Qxb6 Kg6 5.Qb8 Be3 6.Qe8+ Kh7 7.Qe4+ Kg7 8.Qb7+ Kg8 9.Qd5+ Kh8 10.Qa8+ Kg7 11.Qf3
= (0.00) Depth: 57/58 00:07:05 28711MN

...Ke8 brings the King one step nearer to its fortress- destination, so it seems even more clear to me then the also possible 1.Bhg7:

3k4/6bQ/1b3b2/6b1/8/ppp5/brrp4/nqbN3K w - - 0 1

Analysis by MateFinder 050320 64:

2.Kg2 Ke7 3.Qe4+ Kf8 4.Qb4+ Bc5 5.Qxc5+ Ke8 6.Qc6+ Kf8 7.Qd5 B7h6 8.Qd6+ Be7 9.Qe6 Kg7 10.Qe5+ Bgf6 11.Qe4 Bhg5 12.Kf3 Bh6 13.Qg4+ Kh8 14.Qc8+ Bhf8 15.Qh3+ Kg7 16.Qg3+ Kh7 17.Qg2 Kh8
= (0.00) Depth: 49/33 00:00:52 3482MN

Yet a caveat, 1...Bfg7 fails:

3k4/6bQ/1b5b/6b1/8/ppp5/brrp4/nqbN3K w - - 0 1

Analysis by MateFinder 050320 64:

2.Qe4 Be7 3.Qg6 Kd7 4.Kg2 Beg5 5.Qf7+ Kd6 6.Kf3 Ke5 7.Kg4 B7f6 8.Qd7 Bbe3 9.Qf5+ Kd6 10.Qe4 Bgf4 11.Kf5 B6e5 12.Qb4+ Bc5 13.Qb8+ Ke7 14.Qg8 Bed6 15.Qh7+ Kf8 16.Kg6 Ke8 17.Kf6 Be7+ 18.Ke6 Kd8 19.Qg8+ Bhf8 20.Qg2 Kc7 21.Qa8 Bb6 22.Qe8 Bb4 23.Qf7+ Bfe7 24.Qxf4+ Kc8 25.Qc4+ B4c5 26.Qd3 Bed8 27.Qd7+ Kb8 28.Kd5 Be3 29.Kc6 Bdc7 30.Qe7 Bef4 31.Qb4 Bfd6 32.Qa4 Ba5 33.Qb5+ Kc8
+- (#38) Depth: 52/64 00:00:16 1080MN

So, I'd still say, the puzzle is repaired anyhow regards
Peter.
