Those of us who use engines for analysis are happy enough...the rest of you can just get faster, more expensive hardware to satisfy your needs.

Yes, it is clear that old systems are setting the short end of the stick with code that is taking advantage of moremodern hardware.
Regardess, still unbeatable by most humans at full strength ;>)
Actually, someone tested on a Pentium 3. Stockfish with classical eval is still much weaker than current Stockfish with NNUE. To me it's a miracle it even works on a Pentium 3.

And it beats SFclassical quite easily on the Pentium 3

We don't need ultra-powerful and expensive computers with AVX2 CPU extensions and NVIDIA RTX 3080, if the algorithms are well optimized :D

Chess engines and dedicated chess computers fan since 1981 :D Mac mini M1 8GB-256GB, Windows 11 & Ubuntu ARM64.

AVX2 CPU computers are powerful but not expensive today at all..

Laptops with 7nm AVX2-capable CPUs and powerful RTX graphics does not cost significantly more than many less prowerful popular-brand laptop alternatives these days.

Well optimized algos and powerful hw is always better than well optimized algos and so-so hw.

For example an Acer Swift X Creator Laptop 14" with AMD Ryzen 7 5800U , NVIDIA RTX 3050Ti , 16GB LPDDR4X | 512GB NVMe SSD will set you back only 1000 usd.
