Re: Komodo Dragon 2 released.

Dragon 2 is now the favorite against Stockfish 13 on typical modern hardware. Rgds Is it? They seem to imply that with a pv of one the improvement is small, but the difference between Dragon 1 and SF 13 is 79 elo: http://www.cegt.net/40_40%20Rating%20List/40_40%20All%20Versions/rangliste.html The a...

Re: Seer 2.0.0

If it plays coffeehouse chess, i can only congratulate you for making it this way. I don't know whether it is possible to get away with playing coffeehouse style chess when you're >3000 elo, but Seer definitely explores the boundary between sound and unsound in many games for better or worse :) But...

This thread somehow brings to mind the Bozo-Indian Defense (1.d4 Nc6!?! 2.d5).

Re: Learning

The Baron and Romichess have good learning features, too, but they're not top engines, though Baron is quite strong. Hiarcs is also supposed to have learning, but I'm not sure it works that well.

Re: Hidden Step (Benjamin, Berserk, Ceibo, Drofa, Dumb, Galjoen, K2, KoK, KnightX, Nawito, Qapla, Supernova, Velvet, Wax

Curious, what are Benjamin's ES2/ES3 settings (if you're willing to share)? Most of the changes in Benjamin.eng file are common for the ES, ES2, and ES3 versions: [Pawn Value = 117] (default = 100) [Knight Value = 125] (def = 100) [Bishop Value = 125] (def = 100) [Rook Value = 124] (def = 100) [Que...

Re: Tactical mistake by Stockfish (Grischuk-Ding at candidates)

Thanks, that's interesting. This net's posted date is Dec 2, 2020, so it's not that old - newer than the default SF net, in fact(!)

Re: Dragon

Always buy when they have the 25% off semi-annual one-day sales (in spring/fall). The CB 16 upgrade was no more than $80.

Re: Hekastockfish NNUE - many interesting options for this Stockfish derivative! Quick local results included.

I did test this version of Heka for a while, but discovered that the new piece value settings unfortunately did not bring about any trade avoidance capabilities whatsoever. They didn't seem to have any tangible effects at all. :(
