And may be, integrate the code in the official Stockfish to improve its mate solving ability.
Or perhaps give it a mate solving mode. I guess that improving the mate solving ability might decrease Elo.
But there is no harm to a mate solving mode.

I made a version with variable sized hash tables:

I kept the power of 2 thing, but allowed whatever fits within the request:
memory N
where N is megabytes.

Re: LC0: support for windows mimalloc #1561

I had to write a suballocator once in the early 1990s. It was a special situation where thousands and thousands of medium sized blocks (just under 32K) of memory were allocated and freed very rapidly. So I made a linked list of megabyte sized pools and for each block there was a bit-vector if a bloc...

Re: A few observations on NNUE/ SF/ FatFritz2 and an alternate scenario.

It’s almost standard that an accuser (especially a false one) is doing himself what he accuses the other of. Do you remember the A Silver accusation against my unseen, un-distributed, private engine, just a few weeks prior to Fat Fritz2 release? I do remember that there was some kind of problem and...

Re: A few observations on NNUE/ SF/ FatFritz2 and an alternate scenario.

Houdini was obviously a clone of RobboLito from the start, which was denied by the author, and therefor a blatant license violation. Houdini could have started out as Ivanhoe, since Ivanhoe was public domain and Robbolito was a clone of Ivanhoe. On the other hand, the evidence that current Houdini ...

Re: Whither g4? SF turns up her fishy nose.

Here are about 1000 related positions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PxPe42FVeaPzEh8MBOhEhDGfL5GN0MxV/view?usp=sharing I guess that for 10% of them, the engine will be right. For the ones at the top of the file, the engine is off by a full piece. For the ones at the bottom of the file, the engine...

Re: Whither g4? SF turns up her fishy nose.

What is AMiE ?
What is Cfish "Pure" ? (I guess no NNUE, but I am not sure).

According to my understanding, Cfish is supposed to be essentially identical to Stockfish, except faster.
So Cfish solving it quickly does not make sense to me.

Re: A few observations on NNUE/ SF/ FatFritz2 and an alternate scenario.

Lots of GPL software is used to make money, often by the original writers of the tools. Generally speaking, the money to be made is not in selling the software (which is free, after all). It is in selling support. That is how most of the Linux vendors do it. It is also used in hosted cloud projects,...
