Re: CCC has serious hardware update!

Now SF classic with 232 cores has much lower nps than Komodo 128 cores. Something is wrong now :!: :?: . It looks like you dont understand actual physical cores vs hyperthreads.( 2x Threads=1 core). 232÷2= 116 cores Stockfish is not running on 232 cores, they dont have 232 cores. Komodo is running ...

Re: CCC has serious hardware update!

Now SF classic with 232 cores has much lower nps than Komodo 128 cores. Something is wrong now :!: :?: . maybe Komodo scales better Again you can only split the search so many times effectively. And you CAN NOT measure speed by NPS. To know the real speed difference when using different amounts of ...

Re: +100 elo breakthrough in new rewritten Lco engine ( Ceres)

Announcement from Leela discord. Long time community member and developer @dje has created a new chess engine that uses Leela Chess Zero networks. It appears much stronger than lc0 (see the performance test below). The build process is currently being worked on so please be patient while the commun...

Re: CCC has serious hardware update!

Clearly SF and Lc0 are dominating now both in CCC and TCEC! Yes, but you do not need massive hardware. SF, and Lc0 also dominate on much less hardware, even with fast time controls. The best chess will always be played by the best software. Current tournament at 1m+1s 32 threads. End of Year Tourna...

Re: KomodoDragon brilliancy Ruy Lopez - Marshall! A marshall reborn?

Prabably 21. Bf3? was the blunder as suggested my droidfish running 10-15 seconds per position. :P Maybe there are other alternatives but I think 21.Bf3 move doens't deserve a "?" tag because it is also a strong move. 29/45 +0.21 Qe1 Bf5 Bf3 Rg8 Re5 Bh3 Nf1 Qg7 Ng3 fxg3 hxg3 Bxe5 Qxe5 Rae8 Qxg7+ Rx...

Re: Evaluation of moves from World Championship Games

I tried anlyzing the games from wch games, something similar done by Guid and Bratko using Crafty at fixed depth. I think they did another analysis later with stronger engine. I used Stockfish 13 dev 2020-12-14 using a movetime of 5s per position on 4 cores with i7-2600K. Analysis starts at move 12...

Re: Dispelling the Myth of NNUE with LazySMP: An Analysis

That is simple to answer. No one was talking about your engine. The issue was with Stockfish NNUE. The claims about faulty testing in CCRL. Was about Stickfish NNUE. Okay good, we have officially moved the goal posts. We no longer believe that NNUE is the cause for engines to scale worse, but that ...

Re: Sargon 1978 UCI Available

 If anyone shows any interest (maybe even if nobody does :-)) I shall go ahead and implement this, resulting in a new Sargon 1978 V1.01 to replace the existing Sargon 1978 V1.00. Thanks to the three posters expressing interest. I will go ahead and work on a new V1.01 release with the goal o...
