Re: On the ownership of TakChess

Indeed, the replacement forum is already there, and it in a short time it can be made superior to this one, as we have full access to the software there. But I don't think that it will attract any visitors, no matter how many fancy features it has, and how crappy the forum is here, if it would be i...

Re: On the ownership of TakChess

That would sound reasonable if Ed wasn't firmly in Quentin's camp... I’ve no idea what camps there are and are not. The important thing is that there are identifiable Custodians of the forum/brand name and so on, and that ICD/Quentin have driven a coach and horses through the terms they were allowe...

Re: On the ownership of TakChess

Turn the question round the other way. Concerning only the forum (not the domain name, not the posts, not the software), just the concept and brand. Charter says “group of individuals” originated the forum. Eg owns the concept, the name, the brand and the power to “set up the forum”. Where is the si...

Re: Task force TalkChess access

Chris, I don't remember a contract. Enlighten me. Of course there was. Do you imagine the forum was just handed to ICD with no control or guidelines on ICD about what they could do or not do? Do you imagine that ICD set it all up by themselves without getting us to agree to post to it and not rgcc?...

Chris,
Do you have a copy of that contract?
Doubt it, it was nearly quarter of a century ago. I remember the gist of it though.

Re: Task force TalkChess access

... Whatever your issues were in the past, whatever you are projecting now onto whomever, it does not help the current situation (and it did not help in the CTF case btw.). Try to be a part of the solution, fix your mistakes as founder from the past. The founders handed over the domain and forum to...

I nominate Chris Whittington and Graham Banks.

My hope is to run with them as a team / trio.

Re: Did all top commercial engines around 2005 violate Fruit 2.1's GPL license?

However, why wasn't any of the other top commercial engines at the time, such as the ones listed in the interview, Fritz, Hiarcs, Zappa, Spike, List, investigated as well for their possible violation of Fruit's GPL? List was. From here: https://www.chessprogramming.org/List_(Program) List participa...
