Re: Can somebody compare the AMD Ryzen processors to the intel processors

Where do you get the latest benchmarck file to test these computers, where is the link :?: You just run "bench" in the executable: Best to do it this way https://github.com/official-stockfish/Stockfish/issues/3344#issuecomment-775835158 These were Linux machines so I compiled from source, but using...

Re: M1 Apple Silicon for Chess?

91° Celsius with 4 CPUs (65°-75°using 2 CPUs) I have a Mac mini M1, so there is the fan, but since tournaments overcharges it for days, I don't like to risk. I think that is wise, I wouldn't either. It isn't just the CPU, that heat must escape into the other internals of the laptop and make everyth...

Re: M1 Apple Silicon for Chess?

91° Celsius with BanksiaGui engines/engines matches after only 10 minutes ...Just a little worried :? I think it's normal especially on the Air. The firmware just lets the temperature increase until it hits the limit around 90C and then starts throttling only as much as needed. The 5800X is similar...

Re: M1 Apple Silicon for Chess?

Ubuntu ARM64 lacks also of a good chess IDE like banksiaGui or Cutechess. Cutechess runs on ubuntu arm64, I have it running on my Pi 4 right now doing some engine tests. Wow! So you have bought an M1 mac! Doesn't he say he got a Raspberry Pi? 1) Install Big Sur on external SSD to avoid internal cor...

Re: Can somebody compare the AMD Ryzen processors to the intel processors

Table updated. Zen 1 (R7 1700) is ~1520000 but I didn't write down the exact numbers. I don't have anything from "modern" Intel though. Re: Can somebody compare the AMD Ryzen processors to the intel processors

Using the current git master I get something like 2.6Mnps on a 3900X.

I just got a 5800X (no luck getting 5900/5950) and it benches at 3.3Mnps, which is pretty astounding. The M1 benches at 2.4Mnps.

Re: Are neural nets (the weights file) copyrightable?

Sure I can. I can put it on GitHub, complete with source. It is not my responsibility that the people who download it might use it together with other software that the Stockfish developers wish to declare as their own. Yeah, but what does that have to do with anything? Last I checked, ChessBase do...

You cannot invert this.
You can't invert it, but without permission you can't redistribute, so you're still stuck.

Re: Are neural nets (the weights file) copyrightable?

So it seems that according to the FAQ a GPLed program cannot use a non GPL compatible library It can use it, but you can't distribute it. An example is using ffmpeg with libfdk_aac and x264. You can compile this yourself but you won't find any binary compile with this combination of features. Now i...
