Re: Chess Computer Vintage (Hardware and Software)

I can confirm that it played the same style of chess as the original. I am impressed that you went as far as matching the buttons and the style of move selection! Well, it's not only a simulation but in fact an exact emulation of the hardware (based on the MAME/MESSUI emulator) and it uses the orig...

Re: Chess Computer Vintage (Hardware and Software)

Yes, I know. Still I have timing issues with certain time controls. :D It may be the GUI I am working with (Banksia). Well, I think the main misunderstanding is, that of course all those old chess computers don't know anything about time controls of the used GUI. IOW, you can't use the GUIs time co...

Re: Chess Computer Vintage (Hardware and Software)

Cool! On your site I have also found LTC2 that I was using 30 years ago to test the strengh of dedicated che computers and first PC DOS programs like Rebel, MChess and Hiarcs 7... Hmm? LTC2? There are CB-Emu, Tasc-Emu and a collection of almost all DOS chess programs (in a virtual DOS machin...

Re: Chess Computer Vintage (Hardware and Software)

I know that I wish there were more dedicated as UCI engines, but I am thankful for what few we have. CB-EMU and Tasc-EMU are great, but not that good for engine vs engine matches (timing issues), and even dedicated as UCI engines have some hiccups. I tried to get the Lyon32 rom to work following Ed...

Re: Desperately Seeking Chess System Tal 2's Patch 2.03

Franz, the download link is no longer working, where have you put it this time  http://rebel13.nl/noomen/more_oldies.html Yes, as you can read on my homepage https://fhub.jimdofree.com/ I don't like it, when direct links to my webfolder are put on any other websites - I expect, that other web...

Re: Banksia GUI released

I have managed to load individual old chess computer ROM engines from the CB-Emu package but is there a way to load more than one ROM engine at the same time? No, the ROM files are no Windows executables, you have to call 'MessChess.exe' with the 'engine' name as parameter. This can be done by a ba...

Weird. Maybe weaker engines have an easier time due to less aggressive pruning? Myrddin solves this in 21 seconds...
ChestUCI needs only a fraction of a second ... ;)

Re: Good resource for old dos engine manuals?

Anyone know of a good place I can download manuals for old dos engines? I am playing around with MChess 5 today and I would really like the manual. Hi John, I doubt that there's a website with such manuals, but at least I have uploaded the MCP5 manual in PDF format for you: https://www110.zippyshar...
