Help with CuteChess

My apologies if this is a very naive problem, but I'm trying to use CuteChess (not cli) to do a self-play test for the first time. I've tried everything, but the program exits (not crashes or stops, but just quits with no message from Windows) after the first game. I've had no problems with it when ...

Position 2

Level : depth=1

There are engines that don't finish depth 1 within one minute.
Myrddin at one core does indeed need 1 minute 47 seconds to print its first PV.

Position 1

There are not so many engines that find the only good move instantly.
Myrddin finds bxc8N at depth 2, but doesn't announce mate after 2 minutes.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney September

I was curious about Pygmalion because I never heard of it, thus I looked up the finger notes on your server. Statistics for Pygmalion(C) (Last disconnected Sat Sep 11, 22:58 CEST 2021): rating RD win loss draw total best Blitz 1979 85.3 7 12 5 24 2007 (11-Sep-2021) 1: This is a computer account: SO...

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney September

Yesterday I noticed this too and decided not to make a point of it. I could be possible that he first tried to logon with Arena and later switched to Winboard with his own engine. The program played very weak, about the level of Sargon 1, I assume SOS 5.1 from Rudolf Hubner is much stronger than th...

Re: Test position for 2500-ish engines

How long for your engine to avoid the natural but losing Qxa6? Sadly, even with 8 cores, Myrddin needs nearly 90 seconds. :( 3 seconds: id name Protej 0.5.9 id author Alex Brunetti option name Hash type spin default 256 min 16 max 512 uciok isready readyok position fen 8/Q7/p3p3/1p1kP3/2qr4/6P1/PP1...

Test position for 2500-ish engines

Myrddin just had this (likely?) drawn position against Arminius in the monthly blitz chess tournament today:

[D]8/Q7/p3p3/1p1kP3/2qr4/6P1/PP1p1P2/3R2K1 w - - 0 45

How long for your engine to avoid the natural but losing Qxa6? Sadly, even with 8 cores, Myrddin needs nearly 90 seconds. :(

I think I still have the wrong position (?):
It's supposed to be a black knight:

Re: Gentelmen, check your engines.

Cool, but not all engines work that way unless they're in mate-finder mode. For my engine, go mate X invokes the mate finder mode because that's what this go parameter is for. Otherwise, with go infinite , the output may vary until it finds the correct mate distance (if it does). Ah, I didn't even ...

Re: Gentelmen, check your engines.

Your engine has found a mate, but you have no clue whether it's the shortest one or not. I do because mine finds a mate in 5, but no mate in 4: position fen 3R1R2/K3k3/1p1nPb2/pN2P2N/nP1ppp2/4P3/6P1/4Qq1r w 0 1 go mate 5 info depth 9 seldepth 9 score mate 5 time 3248 nodes 1799115 nps 553914 hashfu...
