Btw, note that I compiled most of the material I posted here about how to easily and comfortably watch the games directly on the ICS, without suffering any limitations, into a web page:

http://hgm.nubati.net/VICS/CCT.html

This page is now also linked to from the official CCT tournament site.

After a lot of chaos and PM's going to and fro between me and Joshua, finally we have come to a point where this is visibly possible.

All the coding was done by Joshua though, so kudos to him!

I also spoke with Holger, so CCT will now be a 'official' broadcast, handled by Robot 1 in the Broadcast room.

Hopefully everything will go as planned :D again, great work Josh!

Indeed, if it does not then that rules out playchess. Linux seems to be far more popular among chess enthusiasts than it is in the general population.
Perhaps, but on the other hand, the potential viewing audience is much much larger, and I could arrange to have it placed in the event calendar in the main Broadcast area, the same where the elite GM events take place. Also, Playchess has free Android and iOS clients to view from as well.
The problem with playchess is that they want to charge me for a membership.

Well you missed this.

Besides you can connect as a guest, without paying any money, the program is free.

Membership a Playchess is less than the cost of Houdini, forexample,
which is a commercial product as Komodo.

On the Android, the playchess client is buggy and clunky too.

Anyway, the bottom line is that I prefer to support something more open. The fics and ics clients are complicated but they are superbly flexible and have great power. They just need a good client for dummies or people that dont' want the hassle of having to learn all the details.

Nothing complicated if the client is WinBoard. All it requires (after starting it from the system's Start menu) is typing your name and two mouse clicks, and you are already observing a game.

The same fools who buy Komodo.

You're too smart for normal people.
Or so smart
that is stupid.

And you are supposed to watch CCT on android, how, exactly?

A client is better than no client.
