I see that the polls closed, with 197 votes. (!)

Just to be the first to congratulate.

It is obvious to me that the elections are faked. There are at least 25% more
votes than in all elections before, despite being much less members than in
the past. Time to leave that place.
Fake or not Guenther,if you leave you won't change a thing....you'll just walk away from the greatest computer chess forum on the planet....

Maybe we should have a referendum on whether robbo/ippo etc.. links should be allowed in the forum - same voting restrictions as the moderation election.
Maybe these links can help clarify the situation.

Hi clare - a new poll though with same voting restrictions as the moderation election may give a fairer result.

As harvey states i think it is worth listening to larry kaufman on this matter - i think this sheds new light on the whole issue.

It is a shame that such a great forum has been blighted with all this stuff - chess is great fun lets keep it that way :)

it seems you have problems to understand your own citation, which means:

actually Guenther
before the change over to the new forum software(March 06)
200+ voters for the CCC elections was quite common
ICD use to keep a seperate web page for all of the Prior elections but sadly that no longer exists
i was able to find the results of at least one election which shows 657 votes cast (same rule of 3 votes per member)
that shows about 219 voters on avg.

Chess and computer chess is a great game and much fun can be had by all.
There seems to be a number on this forum that appear to out to make trouble and cause dissension - please stop - there is a great number that come here to enjoy their hobby and it is a shame if they stop coming here because of all the back biting.

Concerning robbo/ippo etc 'I think the saying the writing is on the wall is appropriate' Open your eyes, ears and hearts friends the truth that these are not legitimate engines is easy to see - but i think some are blinkered because they are getting a very strong engine for free...

When you start calculations "this engine is legitimate, that engine is not", you are not enjoying chess anymore, you are giving support to the business side.

Let people who understand this matter expose their arguments.

Even better Slobo that promoting a certain commercial chess engine again and again and again is against the charter....

Is that the issue? Business vs non business?

4. Are not flagrant commercial exhortations

My understanding of this is openly encouraging people to buy a particular engine. I haven't seen this happening.

Cheers,
Graham.

Christopher Conkie wrote:Well if one cannot define what is may be illegal and is therefore questionable, then there is no point in having a Charter at all.
Terms like "within reason", "abusive", "libelous", "flagrant" and "questionable" do not lend themselves to precise definition. The moderators job is to interpret them.
