After spending a little more time with this position, I feel extremely good about our chances. I was mostly considering f6, but I think you make a good case for bringing up the knight first. So I will agree, Nf4.

Threats 29.gxh6 followed by mate on g7. So Black probably must reply 28...f6 (28...hxg5 29.hxg5 +-), and then we play 29.Ngf4, planning g6+ followed by Nxg7. Black's position seems to break down.
I also think it is slightly better to play Nh5 before N(g)f4 if we want to enforce the variations above. Nf4 may still be good, though.
