Re: The Third Forum Game
I see that Aice is 100 elo stronger than Ayito on the standard list, so if it ponders, it is likely to hold us better in the opening. Then the weaker dedicated should at least have a good position to take over from.Spock wrote:I'll need to test and see which engine is reliable - I'll get back to you

Ayito sounds good. With Steve's machine taking over afterSteve B wrote:i can take the game over once out of the opening(castling completed) with a solid but low 2300 dedicatedSpock wrote:OK, I'd choose Ayito of those two. I'd need to check if one or both support ponderGraham Banks wrote: Aice 0.99.2 (2359) or Ayito 0.2.994 (2358)
EDIT: yes Ayito supports ponder. I'll run some quick tests
if this is the final decision on the the third game (Ayito+ dedicated) then i will not be voting for moves in the first stage
i will update the lead thread as before
if the forum players would like to keep the name of the dedicated a mystery i will PM Ray wth the name as soon as the game begins
Steve
castling sounds ok.
Best.
Gerold.
P.S. I will miss playing Monday and Tuesday and maybe
Wed. Hope i don't have to be away any longer than that.
Re: The Third Forum Game
Ayito doesn't ponder properly either - I've tested Hermann 1.7 and that is fine. On CCRL FRC list it is 2405, standard chess blitz and 2373 on CEGT 40/20 list. I suggest we proceed with this engine. A bit stronger than I'd like, but, but with the limited number of engines supporting chess960 we don't have a lot of options in this ELO range

Don't know whether SMK style is supported.
Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

If Ufim 8.02 ponders, let's just go with that. It's a lot stronger, but it's only for the first phase of the game.Spock wrote:Ayito doesn't ponder properly either - I've tested Hermann 1.7 and that is fine. if and when Ray is ready to start i think its appropriate to ask Matthias to pick the next random 960 position from the same site Ray linked to in the last game
sort of like the engine author of the last game passing the baton to the next engine
in the meantime ..the Mystery Dedicated is going through heavy training exercises under heavy "media blackout".. sequestered away in a fortified secret location ..all in preparation for when the game is handed over to it and an easy "mop up" for the win
