So until now the people think that it is a clone, because the website is poorly written and because Vas said it is a clone. Or because it looks like reverse engineered, and no one seems to notice these guys explain how and why it is so.

A reverse engineered engine does not mean reverse engineered Rybka engine, does it?

No one bothers to test it really, to compare binaries with Rybka or anything.

There was an open-"source" (using the term loosely) clone of Rybka 3 released in the spring. Unlike the last time, there was no real attempt to hide the cloning - the hackers were even kind enough to keep me updated via email.

Vas
I asked Vas in early May about Ippolit and he confirmed to me that it was a Rybka 3 clone. This was after some other programmers had already made him aware of the webpage in question.

Cheers,
Graham.

Thanks, Graham. That's the "Vas says it's a clone" part.
Any further evidence?

As I said, people will believe what they want to believe.

Hi, Graham!

Do you have an old version of the Ippolit? It would be interesting to compare with the current version.

Sorry Jury. I don't have Ippolit on my computers.

To compare what specifically Jury? The code has stayed the same on the site since we found it. Any alterations that we made to make it work or add certain features, were done with the 0080a code.

Is it still crashing and losing on time over there?

The Jury is still considering if the crashes are caused by Arena, or your buggy compiles. The latest version is .084, and it does seem to be very stable and bug free, and perhaps 50 elo stronger than 0080a. After 30 games at long time controls, it has yet to lose a game. It's evaluation/playing style reminds me very much of Fruit/Toga. It's strength is beyond human comprehension, therefore I think it was created by God.

This is very strange.
The first version had a number 0080a.
In the first version made a lot of changes compared to Rybka 3.
For six months nothing added.
