I vote for Nf6 in this position.....

Other ideas regards

I agree with Nf6, more dynamic than e6, and if e5 then Nd5 of course.
Nf6, e5, Nd5, Nxd5, Bxd5, c4 is exactly why I vote against Nf6. It immediately
gives up the initiative and helps white develop pawns with tempo.

So, I suggest c5.
OK so we have a tie between c5 and Nf6. We have until tomorrow anyway.

my last move was posted at 7:48 PM my time yesterday
24 hour time limit
that means you need to move in 41 minutes(as i write)
Clock Ticking Regards
Steve
It has just turned midnight here......that's tomorrow.

We say c5 by popular vote.
the time control for the Hiarcs Game will always be 48 hours from the last time a move is posted
i now have 24 hours to move from your posted move time just now
as Captain you made the right decision to switch your vote to make the time control
well done
Just Under The Wire Regards
Steve
I did not switch. i/we were out voted 3 to 2. Charles voted c5 also.

democratic regards

OK
sometimes the Captain(Alternate) will need to change his vote in order to break a dead lock
the players themselves of course are allowed to change their votes too as the analysis is submitted
this is why a separate clean thread just for voting is necessary
so the Captain's can see just the votes and ..vote changes ..at a glance
instead of wading through pages of posts to pick out votes from a discussion thread

time manipulation is also a crucial part of the game
i have seen moves posted in the middle of the night in order to eat up hours of the opponents reply

Move 3

I say e6. Seems obvious to me you are going to try d4.

OK then. 3...e6.

then if 4.e5, then 4...d5 is good. (So no urgency for 3...d6)

[In fact, d6 is not at all comfortable without the qnp to drive away a bishop, but d6 might still be needed later]

what about Nf6?

I don't like e6 because its kind of a fixing move, and we cannot go for Paulsen or Hedgehog setups because we have one of the important pawns missing. So will shall have to sit in a cramped position without being able to make the typical b7-b5 break.

I'd rather develop the black bishop on g6.

Well i wanted Nf6 even earlier. I can see your point. Unfortunately we were outvoted then.

I am afraid on this move we say e6 by majority. I think we can still be dynamic and i hope we reflect that in our next choice. I agree with you that we are very passive.

For now for Steve our declared move is e6. We wait on him now.
