Just gotta love Star Beryl's psychology sub-routine - implying its opponent is an orangutang as early as move 2 in game 1.JonP01 wrote:You were stunned? I had to check the display 10 times to really be sure it had played b4. I thought it had blown a gasket

Re: Lexibook dedicated computer question
That's the one - inlaid with diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds. Steve won't be able to get one of these, it's been commissioned for me alone.JonP01 wrote:Yours is to be personally delivered?I guess we should clarify - that is the Dave Kittinger Limited Edition Signature Series Citrine. Not the bog standard one.
When Dave drops it off we'll also discuss plans for future Beryl computers, in particular the ultimate Shooting Star Beryl Premier Plus II, due for release in August 2013.
Dave believes the Novag engineers will have sorted out the semi-legible LCD problem by then.

Ah yes. The notorious Scorpio and Diablo, Novag's only flirtation with the Motorola 68000. Troublesome beasties these things but look...I'll see what Dave says. I'm not sure about broaching the milk and juice thing with him though.
White with one sugar please regards

Really? I'll have to check my letterbox every 5 minutes now. 1521 games at 40/2 and 26 different Schachcomputers to be exact, but there's more to come. It's the journey, not the destination that counts...my tournaments must never end! And with the SSDF only interested in these new fangled software engine thingies now, someone must carry the dedicated flame - real pieces and pawns, manual labour, sweat, tears, blood and Holz...
Must...work...harder...reach...page 1 of SS regards

I just did the Math
1521 games ..estimating that each game lasted on avg 5 hours brings us to almost one FULL YEAR of non-stop action
I Am Humbled Regards
Steve
PS..of all of those games...what ONE game is your favorite?
ONE game only

ONE game only
I'd never really sat down and done the maths, although sometimes I have six games going simultaneously if I have the stamina. Four simultaneous games is comfortable.
As to my favourite game...is it the stunning victory of CXG Chess 2001 as black as it humiliated the mighty Saitek Cosmos with a speculative bishop sacrifice in GAME 1 of its match? Or Novag Jade's amazing King Hunt as it blew Conchess Glasgow's position apart with a bolt from the blue in a staid Accelerated Dragon? What about Kaplan's lowly Express 16K playing the game of its life to upset Schroeder's Holz MM IV, almost 500 ELO points in superiority? The dismantling of Novag Amber by Saitek Cosmos to such an extent that Amber was mated before it even had a chance to resign?
These are a few of my favourite games regards
Cameron

now THAT would certainty be something to see without question
oh how i wonder if it could ever be possible to see the moves of that game posted here with perhaps a diagram or two sprinkled in here or there?
Wishing Upon A Star Regards

Perhaps I could pick say ten games from the 1500+ that I feel are worthy of note, post them here and let the readers choose their favourite by poll.
Games can of course be interesting from a number of perspectives - the miniature with tactical fireworks, a David slaying a Goliath against all odds etc. Poor old Express 16K gets regularly clobbered but its win against the MM IV had me biting my nails. It also had a win against Designer Display 2100, about 350 ELO stronger. It also almost got a win against Novag Amber in an aggressive King Hunt quite out of character - that one was an emotional roller coaster. My wife must think I'm a bit strange when I run around the house on very rare occasions exclaiming "Express 16K's won! Express 16K's won!"

Which shall be the "Evergreen"? regards
Cameron
