Ra1b1.
I prefer not to open up to much on the King side unless it gives
a good gain for White.
Fighting it out on the Queen side and keeping control of the
middle until some gain can be for the King side.
Best,
Gerold.

I don't see how we break through on the kingside quite yet. So I am thinking maybe:
15. Bf3
Which is noncommital...just improve our bishop. We could even consider something odd on the queenside like:
15 Bf3 Qb6 16. cb Qxb5 17. b5!?

Re: New chess game anyone.
15.Bf3 initially appealed to me because I think that the e4 square needs fortifying and it would be good to have the h1-a8 diagonal covered.
However, 15.Bf3, Qa6 threatening a possible bc and Ba5 gets me a bit concerned about Black taking control via the queenside.
Then I realised that bc followed by Qa6 and Ba5 is still a possible problem for us.
It might be best to cover ourselves on the queenside before venturing forth on the kingside?
Something to think about.

I am not completely sure what you mean. 15. Bf3 Qa6 and then white preempts bc by playing 16. cb and then I think 16...Qxb5 is forced. After which I was thinking 17 b4!? looks interesting, trying to break up black's pawn structure and create some queenside targets. If this works we don't have to worry about Ba5. I looked at it a few minutes with an actual board and everything, but I must admit I could have missed something. Its a little intimidating playing against a computer, I must admit.Graham Banks wrote:15.Bf3 initially appealed to me because I think that the e4 square needs fortifying and it would be good to have the h1-a8 diagonal covered.

I looked at that a bit, here are my notes....I admit I am not positive about the final position, which is kind of complicated, but my impression is the tactics are good for black, particularly if black is a computerswami wrote:g4!

15. g4 bc 16.bc Bd8 then if 17.g5 Nh7! and if 18.gh g6! and its complicated by I got the feeling black stood better, maybe much better. Which means 17. g5 is to soon, so maybe 17. h3 is necessary. But if that's the case, then the whole push is too soon, so we may as well prepare a bit first.
