I think Texel is the only engine I know of that will actually use multiple tb types if >1 is specified.

I fixed this by recognizing "<empty>" as a special case in the tb path. I see this is actually mentioned in the protocol specification.

Code: Select all

In UCI mode, don't set tb type when a tb path is received if that path
is empty or the string "<empty>". Fixes issues under Shredder GUI.
I am not going to re-spin the 19.1 release for this though. It will be in the next release.

Hi,

can you try it out with 4-pieces?

I remember me on Fizbo ...
Not working in one of the last versions with 4-pieces but with 5-pieces. This problem is fixed with the current Fizbo version.

I will try it out in the evening again!
Thanks for your hint ... important for me ... because Arasan 19.1 is one of the next engines I have to test.

Best

There are some others.
Typically it is GTB + Syzygy

Sorry but I do not have 4-pieces. Someone once asked me a question. What is the best tablebase. I told without a second thought - Namilov no Syzygy. And why someone asked me a question. Because the set position 3 figure 3 figure is the program I will immediately, and in syzygy, unfortunately it is not. It's a shame that 6 men Nalimov have 1.2 TB.

Nalimov files are pretty well unattainable for engine authors because Eugene takes forever to respond, and then the license is hard to fathom.

Scorpio, Syzygy and GTB have the easiest license and access.

Lomonosov require internet access.

The others are generally one-off types like FEG.

Your results are pretty meaningless. The error bar is larger than the gap between the two test programs.

120 games doesn't produce any accuracy at all..

This is not necessary Ruxy. You published your results with error bars and everyone can read them.
I guess Bob wrote that, because of your header line 'best version ever', which gives the wrong impression,
you won't know about the meaning of the error bars...

Even in the heat of the August summer this is no reason to take this that personally and I can assure you,
that your posts are not meaningless, because you often post about programs, which aren't tested by a lot of people!
Just don't attach that 'best ever' or similar after 120 games, otherwise it might happen, you get it smashed back in
your face for good reasons ;-)

Welcome back
