99 $ is too expensive.
Hope you'll give back some greens to the Stockfish team...

Re: Too expensive
It's worth noting that buyers of the previous version get a 20% discount, so the engine costs only $80 for them.Canoike wrote:99 $ is too expensive.

Re: Too expensive
Here is a short explanation for existing customers with a valid subscription:
The site "available downloads" of Komodochess contains an important item:
Komodo 10 = updated 05.23.2016
(previous Komodo editions are mentioned there, too)
in red letters is written:
subscription expired 21 days ago
Another option would be:
The notion "Komodo 10" is cancelled with a link of redirection "get a new subscription" > with the consequence
Komodo 10 + one year subscription = $99,97 respectively
Komodo 10 = $59,96
Best wishes,
Norbert

Re: Komodo 10 released.
Hi Larry,
not sure with the settings in Komodo 10 x64 for start a test-run.
I think I should used the default settings with the time control on 4GHz i7 Hardware 40 in 10 (one game need around 45-minutes). Perhaps you are online and I have luck.
Driving to my professional work and will start after Chiron test-run Komodo 10 x64 test-run before in around 1-2 hours.
Thanks for Komodo 10 x64.
List of changes is very interesting for me.
Will see Komodo 10 directly

Best
Frank

Re: Komodo 10 released
Well people expect the evaluation of a position to be proportional to its elo(*). Here a factor 100 is suggested:Kaufman wrote:What exactly is the standard?
https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com ... 2C+and+ELO
The disadvantage is that the elo of a position depends on time control. So probably wilo's would be a better measure (Kai?).
(*) Elo of position. The expected score in a match should be computed from (elo of white)+(elo of position)-(elo of black).
The elo of the starting position is commonly called the "white advantage".

Re: Too expensive
For the impulse buyers that would like another ChessBase GUI or consider finally replacing the one that came with HIARCS 12 perhaps, there is a only valid for today (May 24th) discount on Komodo 10 but also for their other products. So there it is even cheaper (no subscription though).carldaman wrote:It's worth noting that buyers of the previous version get a 20% discount, so the engine costs only $80 for them.Canoike wrote:99 $ is too expensive.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Why would you want to spend even that much ?carldaman wrote:It's worth noting that buyers of the previous version get a 20% discount, so the engine costs only $80 for them.

Sadly, its already available everywhere.
Komodo Team's lack of interest in the Security aspect is going to cost them.

Re: Too expensive
Komodo is the strongest program in the world. They deserve to charge a premium.Canoike wrote:99 $ is too expensive.

The real crime is that it is still less expensive than Shredder 12! This oldie should be in remainder bins for $15 by now, but they are still charging €99 for it!
