I'm pretty sure he is "that" David K - you can look at his profile, then click on the link to show all his posts and there are many clues there.

If that is the case, we are honored to have him with us.

I had your Wchess and even once I wrote to you showing a game which I won to Wchess and asking you if by chance there was a bug in the code, to what you answered nicely that not, that my game was good enough to get that result. After that I have had Power Chess -buggy to the extreme due to the GUI- and now Majestic Chess.
Every guy here knows about you and wonder from time to time if you are going to deliver, sometime, an UCI version of the engine.
If you are NOT that Kittinger, all the said things are true the same... :-)

I never heard of him, other than bits and pieces at times. But if he is, and I say this with absolute seriousness and NO sarcasm, this godlike figure from the early days of computer chess- how long do you really expect him to hang around this asylum answering questions and signing autographs.

Maestro Georges , Ivan dehumanized you !

The great David Kittinger thinking to "some" ex-CCRL testers:

What is scandalous? All I said was that if he is truly a legend- why would he hang around this silly place. There are many who are legends in their time. The ones hanging around here are "legends in their own minds."

The first chess program I recall (non for PC) was Masterchess, for the Amstrad (I don't remember the author). Next ones, also for the Amstrad, were Cyrus II (Richard Lang) and Colossus 3 or 4 (Martin Bryant).

Those of the Amstrad were good days... :)

The first program I had was Microchess which Kittinger mentions as his inspiration in the interview above with Bryan. Man, was that program a dog. I don't think it had a search - I think it just generated moves and played one at random. Soon after Sargon came along, a thousand fold improvement over Microchess.

One this is certainly true on this forum, as Rodney Dangerfield would probably agree, don't expect to get any respect. I doubt even Claude Shannon would get any respect on this forum.
