And Simon:

It is the exact same archive as Jim's, but with a MacOSX drawer with a MacOSX Snow Leopard / Lion compile.

Hi,
just run a test here on my core I7 and found the 64bit versions
Intel sse42 and Intel without sse42 had the same speed.
I started the engines in console mode and typed:
xboard
sd 18
go
and got nearly the same kns.

What engines are you commenting on?

Hi,
I tested
scorpio-27-64-ja-intel-sse42.exe
and
scorpio-27-64-ja-intel.exe
under Windows 7 64bit on a Intel core I7 CPU

OK. I was confused, since you replied to the last of Julien's posts about Mac compiles, rather that to the original post about Scorpio. Can't help you with Windows binaries.

xboard works fine although IMO it is somewhat hard to set up for novices.

If all you want to do is run matches, cutechess-cli works well for that (

Not only for eng-eng matches Scid vs. Mac is always worth giving a try.

Hello when I run Scorpio Chess 2.7 under Arena 3.0 it seems that the program continues evaluating an old position even after I hit the new game button. I can't remember if the earlier versions did that. The analysis does seem to go away when I make the first move of the new game though.
