Wow ... Bart Westrate is here!
Jan Louwman gave often the information: Clearly the most talented chess programmer (middle of the 90er).
Kallisto 1.83 was most aggressive ... produced the most short wins!
OK, newer versions are stronger and the DOS graphic from Kallisto was a mega-event.

Bart, today I have excactly the same fun with your Kallisto II as in the time you gave me the program in Leiden.

Send shortly my regards!

Best
Frank

Maybe you have interest to create an UCI engines for us!
Sure, an event!
Howdy Frank. We (Hans Secelle and yours truly) are working on something called "Single Malt".
It's the old program of Hans, programmed in Bascic. Just for the fun of us two.
UCI is in the pipeline.

In the open NK of december 2023 it played draw against Spartacus, The King and.... Stoofvlees.
That is for a single core Basic language program. Lot's of fun, thats for sure. :D

In these times my age was 22 - 30. Nowadays 60... Time flies when you are having fun. :(

Hi Bart,

nice to read you and yes ... Time flies when you are having fun!
But you know all is in our brain from the good and old days and often its help and can give a lot of energy. My energy for chess give me John Stanback in the last years if I can see to what he is able today. At the moment I crafting on a light effect. Room should be read if one of the 16 running matches from my tournament Wasp is playing.

That's the same if I am sitting on the airport and waiting and waiting ... and I enjoy life when I think about the past.
No Shorts 330, L1011, Trident, Bac-One-Eleven, DC-8 or Boing 707 nothing. Allways the same ... Airbus this and that what is much more modern. Time is over a long time, often for that what I hope to see. Thinking on all the spotters and excitement if Gulfair L1011 is the near or the 707 from AerLingus. So I can looking in my old DIA's if all is to boring I can start my Novag Super VIP on the Airport (have it in my photocase) with a package Snickers / Mars and all is OK.

The same with the great chess programs from the older days ... your Kallisto, WChess, Zarkov CheckCheck or the dutch engine Tjes (also a very nice own GUI, forgot the name of the programmers at this minute) I can start and I have for the rest of week a good week. Kallisto vs. Tjes ... like that a lot.

Give Hans my regards and the draws are great

:-)

I saw Tom Vijlbrief is also from time to time working in Stockfish project. Thinking on his own program Ant.

You know ...you have an advantage to Spartacus, TheKing and Stoofvlees.
The programs know where are sitting on the other site ...

:-)

Best
