Re: Arena 3.5 is out
Thanks a lot !
I have tested it a bit and it seems very nice - the only bug in my way of using it is that if you minimize the program while in infinite analyzing mode the gui clocks stops, but this is not an important matter.
Regards
Andreas

Re: Arena 3.5 is out
If I recall, a similar thing happened with Arena 3.0, the clock would reset when the window was minimized during infinite.
New Arena 3.5 working good so far. I had hope that it would now be able to play Chess960 without a polyglot work-around, but the release notes don't mention it, and help files say the same thing as Arena 3.0. I tried a few games, and Castling still does not work properly when using (for example) Houdini 4 with FRC on.
Arena team, please add support for FRC using both castling notations. Then you will be 100% great GUI, but almost perfect works too when it's free, so I can't complain much

Fortunately Polyglot is ultra-reliable, so there isn't any real downside to using Polyglot as adapter. In fact I would recommend it even for running UCI engines in orthodox Chess.

[quote="RJN"]I just backed up, and ran the installer. So far, old settings seemed to be retained, except one important one:
There is now a common max CPU cores setting, which is at default of 1. Make sure you change it if needed, unless you want 1 thread. Also, if you turn the setting off while at 1, any engines that were started while it was at 1 will now be permanently set to 1 core in the ArenaENG.cfg file.[/quote
"There is now a common max CPU cores setting"
where is this to be found??
/add - oh i guess it was in engine management../

Re: Arena 3.5 is out
I wish there was a way you could install engines by folder instead of one at a time. I have a ton of engines in my Chessbase folder that I would like to import into Arena but it takes forever to install them one at a time.

Re: Arena 3.5 is out
When you say "a lot of engines in one folder", I suppose you don't mean that you copied all engine .exe files to the same folder? That would be very unusual, (and often leads to conflicts, for engines expecting book.dat or ini files with conflicting names in their own folder), and thus hardly worth supporting.
