I happened before, though not obviously. Fritz 11 has nothing to do with Fritz 10 and Frans Morsch. It has to do with Yuri Osipov and Vas Rajlich.Uri Blass wrote:My opinion is that the law should forbid this type of behaviour.
In other words the law should force changing the name of the program to some different name unless the new program is a derivative of the old program.
If Fritz14 is not a derivative of Fritz13 then there is no reason to keep the name Fritz and it is clearly trying to mislead the customers because my initial thought when I read Fritz14 is that it is a derivative of Fritz13.

Completely redesigned means the old code is now history in the ChessBase building !schack wrote:I have had confirmation from Chessbase that Morsch did not work on DF14 and Horvath is the author. What is unclear is whether or not any of the old Fritz codebase was used, or if Pandix is now DF14.
Pandix is/was a superb private chess engine.schack wrote:Do we have any idea as to the relative strength of Pandix? I can't find a rating for it on any of the rating lists.
Really? Or are you joking?Laskos wrote:I happened before, though not obviously. Fritz 11 has nothing to do with Fritz 10 and Frans Morsch. It has to do with Yuri Osipov and Vas Rajlich.
Well, on similarity tester and ponder hits Frtiz 11 has nothing to do with Fritz 10, practically unrelated. But Fritz 11 is very related to Rybka 1.0 and Strelka 2 (open source), as well as Rybka 2.2. I have not a single false positive in my records.Steve Maughan wrote:Hi Kai,Really? If it's true, it's news to me.
