I don't know why, but the thought just now came into my mind that i may wonder if there was some conspiracy to protect the old programmers, and that maybe much of the cloning scandal is based on that.
Even if there IS cloning, it's a very good excuse why to protect the oldies.
Perhaps cloning had some legal pretexts, but there is also another problem. The competition is strong. That too, may be a legal question... even if a programmer of a super strong engine is NOT guilty of cloning too.

Just sawit by chance. For years the argument I had with the known campaign against an outsorted scapegoat was this:

Educated and decent analysts must have realised that

1) there could never be enough man power for a fair examination because

2) that should have included all these protected professionals too
(the unethical and unscientifical counterargument was: but give us some evidence about other "cheaters" and promissed we will examine them too, but that was a hoax excuse because it's practically impossible to do -- just for lays let me add that in stats it's always the point where to tear the line in relation to the costs etc and decent would always be to not speculate or insult if it cant be done properly)
NB it doesnt change the evil IF in the end AFTER the evil hate campaign really something could be found. The action remains evil and unallowed.

3) the ugliest detail of the yearlong dirty campaign was that without authoritizatION from a State nobody as private hunter is allowed to act with criminal means.

Just imagine for a moment the hunters in our case would have used water boarding torture just to find out what someone really did and always had denied. I mean in the end these hunters could argue that they were allowed to kill because only this way they coult save the ICGA and its Presidents.

Ok they didnt kill but cooperated with attested fraud people and worse they tolerated totally anonymous sort of terrorists.

All this isnt even a complete description of what one could argue against the Hyatt/Levy activities. Irt's a pity that so few were active in the opposition to all this. I'm proud of having been part of it over all these years. And no end-result or verdict could ever change that.

As sad as it is- you can't escape the truth. You can always have a fair shot at going behind an idiot and by making changes have something better than he had. Problem is- you CANNOT GET ANY FURTHER FROM AN IDIOT than Robert Houdart is. In fact, he is brilliant. To make what would amount to parameter changes and increase his program 40 or so elo- it is so highly unlikely you may as well call it impossible. Add to that- if it were there- and it was that important-do you really think someone would have found it and Robert had overlooked it. Use your head.

I was there on Immortal also back when the guy changed the 3 "pawn storms"- and claimed a 30 elo increase to Houdini 1.5a. Yea, right.
