this time against a PC engine for the entire game
Just a suggestion. Doesn't necessarily have to be an FRC game either.

Cheers,
Graham.
personally i have no interest in a straight up game against a PC engine
those games tend to be book battles and usually end in a dull draw with evals never exceeding +/-.03
i have watched too many of these type of games on the other forums
personally what i liked about the three prior games is that they were odds games or FRC so opening theory was not the issue..
chess play was the issue
of course that's only my feelings and i realize that opening theory could be of great interest to other members here and in fact might even attract more players
Best Regards

It could be shuffle chess and almost any engine could be used.

I like FRC games.
If the operator is Ray, he will definitely prefer a FRC game.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Could it be a Gothic chess game? I think that would be something new and exciting, and we have all these free engines to play with: ArcBishop, BigLion, TSCP Gothic, F-Max, TJChess, Joker.

ArcBishop80 and BigLion80 are too weak. Joker80 is too strong.

F-Max or TSCP Gothic could be a good opponent .

Let me know if that's what you'd all like to do.
Sounds like a great idea. Just learning how to play FRC and
an engine just a little stronger would be ok with me.
Ray is the number one pick for me.

As I mentioned I would help in the next game if you prefer a dedicated but Steve might have to step in with a dedicated if I need to step out on occasion. You could call it a two MDC's match :)

The last match worked good. Maybe Ray could start it with the
FRC and than Nick could run dedicated unit with Steve or
someone else filling in if need be.

Gerold.

Sounds Reasonable to Me
Nick and i can coordinate which model to use so that when he is gone i can continue with the same Unit
these games generally take about 2 months to complete so there is even a chance that the game will be completed before Nick goes to the Amazon Rain Forest

unlike the last game where i declined to cast votes for moves because i would be operating the computer later.. i think its OK for Nick and i to offer move choices while Ray is operating the Engine
also.. should we switch to the dedicated once Castling is completed or let the PC engine play on a bit further?
last game the Engine only played 10 moves while the dedicated played 30
any thoughts on these questions from the other players?

Steve

PS..Those wishing to start a Gothic chess game are certainly welcome to do so
i dont see why we cant have 2 games running at the same time as long as we keep the threads here in the Matches forum and we keep the threads down to a minimum
players can vote for moves in both games..
this forum is all about computer chess so lets play computer chess!

Steve
