Engine authors must be very smart then, because I've not noticed any stunted performances from engines using wb2uci adaptors.
It's a bit of an old wives' tale I reckon.
Strangely enough, it's winboard engines not using the adaptors that give me the impression of underperforming under Arena. I mentioned this before, but got pooh-poohed by the Arena fanboys. Could well be a false impression of course.

Cheers, Graham.

PS - I've nothing against Arena. It's a fine free GUI which I've used extensively for testing.

Two years ago was on CCC a long thread about this problem. Very instructive to find and to read it !

Was a quotation from the link posted above, not my statement !
About wb2uci I keep my opinion: a loss of 1%.

Ok, sorry about that, I just want to know, do you think that doubling the speed of a 2000 rating program (100%) gives a rating of 4000? Because that's the logic you're applying to the 1%.

1% of 2500 (Elo) is 25.
That's what I explained at Rybka Forum, elo is offset arbitrarily, Rybka at 3200 and Zappa at 3000 rating equals Rybka at 200 and Zappa at 0 rating, then you can't take percentages out of an arbitrary number.
