seems we were the most nuts in the 80ties :-)
wihout Question the Germans are the most interested in old Schachcomputers then any other country

i think next is Holland
I'm not sure, but in my opinion, Dutch people are more into computer chess than the Germans!

Compared to the relatively small number of residents (16 Mio. and 82 Mio in Germany) there seem to be many chess computers there. And many good programmers came/come from there!
I wonder how many Chess Programmer's are from Germany who have written a strong Engine for the PC or Dedicated?
Chrilly Donniger i guess from Austria?
correct!

as you asked for it:
Stefan Meyer-Kahlen (Shredder), Fritz Reul (List/Loop), Ralf Schäfer/Volker Böhm (Spike) and maybe some more (depends, what you consider as 'strong')

and for dedicated only Nitsche/Henne come to my mind. OK, now you can say, Mephisto 1-3 are not really strong today, but when they were released, they were top!

German regards,
Robert

hi Robert
thanks for the info
while i never even heard of Loop or Spike i didnt know that Kahlen was German

it only makes sense that there should be strong programmers from Germany since the hobby is so popular there

Best Regards
